Competition update and a Helgi Jonsson video
Hello there. Just to let you know that the competition closed today and we’ll inform the winners via email asap. Thanks for taking part, liking our stuff and congrats to the winners!
We are currently busy working on the next chapter which will have even more interviews than the ones published earlier. In the meantime, here’s a very atmospheric Helgi Jonsson video, courtesy of the Blogotheque. It was filmed in his small studio and in the same area of Reykjavik where we visited him last year. Enjoy.

Chapter 5 and 6 are online, plus a competition
As you may have already seen, we finally finally published chapter 5, featuring interviews with FM Belfast and Helgi Jonsson and have a moment ago published chapter 6, this time looking at literary Iceland and featuring an interview with poet Arngrímur Vídalín.
To celebrate this, we have a couple of giveaways that were kindly provided by our friends IMX and For a Minor Reflection.
What we want to give away is:
3x Made in Iceland sampler, a collection of twenty songs from as many bands and artists currently operating out of Iceland.
3x For a Minor Reflection backcatalogue, consisting of the two albums the band has released since 2007, “Reistu þig við, sólin er komin á loft…” and “Höldum í átt að óreiðu”.
To win, send us a mail to with the answer to the following question:
What is the nickname of FM Belfast’s Árni Rúnar Hlöðversson?
The answer has to do with the fact that there are two Árnis playing in FM Belfast, and you’ll find the answer somewhere in chapter 5 or the interviews. Good luck!
Competition is open until 8 PM GMT on Wednesday 31.08.2011, and we’ll pick the winners on a first come, first served-base. You can state your preferred prize, but we cannot guarantee that you’ll receive it.
Time lapse. From Iceland.
Normally, we don’t like time lapse-videos. Overdone, and sometimes a bit cheesy on the side. But, us being extra excited due to our next visit in Iceland in October, we’ll post one nevertheless. Even though it has a Yann Tiersen soundtrack. They could have chosen Sigur Ros.

SONIC ICELAND is back!
First of all, we owe you an apology. While we started the finalised Sonic Iceland website with high hopes and great feedback in January, life again got in our way. And even though we had lulls and breaks before, this was by far the longest, and you can believe that we were not happy with it at all.
Anyhow: we will be back. Because our plan is to focus on finally publishing all Sonic Iceland chapters for your perusal as soon as possible. And we’ll start today, yay! So, expect chapter 5 in a couple of hours, and chapter 6 at the end of the week, and we plan to publish at least two chapter each week from now on. We’ll also have a competition to go with it, so watch this space.
Also will we be going back to Iceland this year, to the Iceland Airwaves in October to be more precise. Stay tuned, and stay with us – thank you for your support!
