Even though we are having some kind of work-related hiatus, our favourite island and it’s quirky inhabitants are restless as usual. So, in no particular order, here are a couple of happenings from the land of ice:

First of all, Reykjavik’s biggest and best music festival, the Iceland Airwaves, have finally launched their new website. Vist and rejoice!

Speaking of new websites, the lovely ladies (and lads) that are Amiina also have introduced a new homepage (to accompany the release of their upcoming album “Puzzle”), where you can download the new song “Over and Again” for free. Free, that is.

Plus, Amiina are among the bands that will play the Icelandic Music Weekend , part of my hometown Dublin’s biggest theatre- and arts festival, the Absolut Fringe Festival. Also playing are Olöf Arnalds and our friends FM Belfast, and the Sonic Iceland-boyz are actually planning to cover this event with words and pictures. Stay tuned!

Day seven of Sonic Iceland yesterday, and the first day I did not cut myself while shaving. Maybe the liver (and connected physical) damage from the weekend has finally subsided. In any way, it was a very sunny day in Reykjavik, so we set off to our first interview with the nice people of FM Belfast in a splendid mood.

Árni and Lóa welcomed us in their backyard, where both were sorting through the merchandise for the upcoming tour (see their website for upcoming confirmed dates & locations), and answered all our questions.

We’re not sure if we can pronounce the names (Lóa Hlín Hjálmtýsdóttir, Árni Rúnar Hlöðversson, Árni Vilhjálmsson and Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason) of the members of Reykjavík-based pop bastards FM Belfast’s correctly, but we swear we’ll be dancing to this song through the streets of 101 at sunset when we are there.
Wait, there won’t be that much of a sunset in June, right? Anyway, we love this new video for the their song “Underwear”.
