We live in a place where we count the days
I’m back in Dublin for two days now, have slept most of the time and am finally catching up with everything. It will take some time before I’ve processed all my impressions, and before we can start working on the project properly – transcribing interviews, creating the finalised website, writing more articles and so forth. But there’s one thing I can definitively say: three weeks are not enough. Not because we have changed our mind and want to include all Icelandic artists, but because there’s so much more to discover. So many more interesting interview partners were suggested by the artists we met, so many more bands were discovered by us in the last days. So we strive to be back in October for the world-famous Iceland Airwaves festival, to meet our friends again and to see more more more. And of course to have Kai take pictures of the Aurora Borealis. And to freeze our ***es off.
While Kai is still in Iceland, covering the Jónsvaka festival with his trusted Leica (more pictures coming soon), here’s one of the bands we discovered in the last days: Of Monsters & Men. The 3 guys and 1 lady play some kind of pleasant neo-folk, in the vein of Mumford and Sons, but without the banjo. Here they are, practicing in a living room:
